High Voltage Engineering Specialist (Grid Connection & HV Systems)
Role Summary
The High Voltage Engineering Specialist is responsible for the design, integration, and compliance of high‑voltage (HV) systems and grid connection interfaces for utility‑scale energy projects (e.g. BESS, renewables).
The role ensures that all HV equipment, grid interfaces, and system studies comply with grid codes, utility requirements, and applicable standards , while supporting project execution from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Grid Connection & Compliance
Lead development of grid connection concepts and strategies
Ensure compliance with TSO/DSO requirements and grid codes (e.g. VDE‑AR‑N 4110/4120/4130)
Define and review compliance evidence, simulation scope, and certification requirements
Develop and define operational modes
Interface with grid operators and support connection studies and approvals
2. High Voltage System Design
Design and review HV systems including:
HV substations and switchyards
Transformers (e.g. 380/33 kV) and auxiliary systems
HV cable systems and overhead line interfaces
Develop and validate:
Single line diagrams (SLD)
Equipment specifications (switchgear, transformers, protection)
Electrical layouts and earthing concepts
Ensure integration between HV, MV, and plant systems (BESS / generation)
3. Protection, Control & System Integration
Define and assess:
Protection philosophy and relay settings
SCADA / PPC / EMS interfaces
Coordinate interfaces between:
HV systems
Power Conversion System (PCS)
Plant control and automation systems
Ensure compliance with power quality, dynamic performance and grid-support requirements
5. Construction & Commissioning Support
Support:
Installation supervision for HV equipment
Energization procedures and commissioning activities
Review:
Test procedures (FAT/SAT)Grid compliance and performance tests
