POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH develops innovative transportation systems that redefine access to space for payloads and passengers. We are continuing to expand our team and are looking to fill the position of Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer (m/f/d).

Your mission

Design and analysis of GNC subsystems for air-breathing UAVs, hypersonic gliders, and orbital spaceplanes
Trajectory simulation, optimization, and mission analysis for complex flight profiles
Development of nonlinear 6DOF flight dynamic models
Creation of mathematical models for physical subsystems (aerodynamics, sensors, actuators, propulsion)
Flight control algorithm design, coding, and software-/hardware-in-the-loop testing and implementation on flight control hardware
Support in the selection, integration, and verification of GNC sensors and components
Development of advanced guidance algorithms for highly automatic UAVs
Participation in ground and flight test campaigns, including test planning, execution, and data analysis

Your profile

Successfully completed aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.)
Several years of professional or research experience in flight dynamics, GNC, or related fields.
Strong background in flight control theory, trajectory optimization, dynamic system modeling and guidance methods
Strong programming skills (MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python) and modeling/simulation experience
Proficiency in English and German (spoken and written)
Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex research and engineering problems
Excellent analytical skills and a creative, solution-oriented mindset
Proactive, motivated, flexible, and resilient, with strong teamwork and communication skills
Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced startup environment where innovation and ownership drive impact
