To strengthen our team, we are looking for a “BESS Design Engineer (m/w/d)” in Hamburg. Your chance to actively shape the energy transition!
Location: Hamburg (Hybrid model with 3-4 days/week in the office)
Your Responsibilities:
Electrical design and engineering of PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including single-line diagrams (SLDs), protection concepts, and system layouts
Sizing and design of cables, transformers, and medium-voltage grid connections
Conducting energy yield assessments and performance simulations using PVSyst
Creating layouts and Bills of Materials (BoMs) using PVcase
Preparing electrical schematics, technical documentation, and calculation reports
Coordinating with Project Managers, suppliers, and grid operators
Ensuring compliance with VDE-AR-N 4110/4120, IEC standards, and other relevant regulations
Supporting system optimization and technical analyses using Excel and Python
Your Profile:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a comparable qualification
Initial professional experience in the design and engineering of PV and/or BESS systems, ideally in the utility-scale sector
Proficiency in AutoCAD (electrical layouts and schematics) and solid knowledge of PVSyst and PVcase
Understanding of BESS component design and integration, including inverters, BMS, PCS, and grid integration
Fluent English and good German language skills (minimum B2 level)
Experience with grid connection projects as well as EPC-related project workflows and interfaces in Germany or Europe is an advantage
Knowledge of medium-voltage systems and protection schemes is desirable, as is practical experience with Python for automating technical calculations
