Join our team supporting EUMETSAT’s Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) and Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) missions at the Mission Control Centre in Darmstadt.
You will become part of an international spacecraft operations team delivered by Dafne Space in partnership with Telespazio Germany, supporting the operational continuity and evolution of EUMETSAT’s Meteosat missions.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and support safe in-orbit operations of MSG and MTG spacecraft
• Perform routine and contingency spacecraft operations, including manoeuvres, eclipses, calibrations, and recovery activities
• Investigate spacecraft anomalies and support corrective actions
• Maintain operational procedures, mission databases, operational tools, and configuration baselines
• Support spacecraft simulators, mission control systems, and operational automation tools
• Participate in standby / on-call operational support rotations
• Support LEOP, commissioning, operational validation, and transition-to-operations activities
• Contribute to Satellite Validation Tests (SVTs), simulations, and operational rehearsals
• Review operational deliverables from spacecraft manufacturers, including FOMs, MIBs, simulators, and OBSW-related documentation
• Coordinate with flight control, ground segment, payload, and industry teams
Technical Areas
• GEO spacecraft operations
• Mission Control Systems (e.g. SCOS-2000)
• Spacecraft subsystems (AOCS, EPS, TCS, TT&C, OBSW)
• MTG payloads including FCI, LI, IRS, UVN
• Operational procedures, validation, and anomaly handling
• Operational tool development and automation (Python / Java / VBA)
Requirements
• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or similar
• Experience in spacecraft or mission operations engineering
• Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and operational environments
• Experience with anomaly investigation and operational procedures
• Familiarity with simulators, mission control systems, or ground segment operations
• Strong analytical and technical communication skills
• Professional English
Desirable
• Experience with LEOP or spacecraft commissioning
• Knowledge of ECSS operational standards
• Experience with SCOS-2000 or equivalent MCS platforms
• Scripting/programming skills for operational tooling and automation
