Key Responsibilities Of The Role

To lead, drive and manage the overall operations of the projects, and ensure that the Programme, Commercial, Safety, Quality, and Environmental objectives are established and company KPI’s are tracked and managed.
Managing several projects on sites around Europe across multiple jurisdictions, and regularly attending sites
Manage clients expectations and ensure client relationships are maintained– regular check in’s, address issues, business development etc.
Manage the tender process from an operations function and work with the management team and pre-con on new tenders for the BU.
Understand strategy and pipeline for future projects.
Acting as a liaison to senior management and board of directors to keep them up to date on all aspects of the Projects and attend B U meetings as required.
Deal promptly and professionally with any potential internal or external disputes.
Manage the expectations of all stakeholders e.g. clients, end customers, contractors, consultants etc.
Ensuring that communication between head office departments and the site is utilised, to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment, maintaining an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the functions are supporting the project teams.
To ensure that the DCBS central support structures are available where required to assist the project team.
To promote a culture of incident & injury free & continuous improvement in QEHS performance on the project.
Reviewing, in conjunction with the Q.A/QC manager and Project Manager, the effectiveness of the management systems as a means of achieving safety, quality and environmental objectives.
Fully understand Mercury’s contract position and the employer’s requirements for the project and ensure the project team are aware of these
Managing budgets and costs effectively in respect of the planning process and provide input for cost reports as agreed; report on all major parts of the project as requested.
Assessing, in conjunction with the Project Q.S. and Project Manager the financial and commercial contracting matters on the project.
Plan, monitor and report on project prelims
Monitor and advise on the administration of the Client/Mercury Contract and on the Mercury Sub-contractor contracts.
Ensure change management is handled correctly (Cost & Programme).
Support on the administration of the Client/Mercury Contract and on the Mercury Sub-contractor contracts (in junction with legal, commercial, management and project teams).
Record lessons learned and ensure they are actioned and shared within the business
Ensure that an internal contract review meeting is held with Mercury legal team and that the key staff attend.
Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the day-to-day performance of the operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks. Review actual progress against planned and ensure that clear and concise reporting that accurately reflects the current project status is communicated to Mercury Engineering Senior Management.
Ensure weekly project meetings are held and minuted, including but not limited to client meetings, project meetings and weekly subcontractors meetings
Ensure clear communication with all staff and contractors through meetings, whiteboards, DABs etc. and ensure lookahead and expectations are clearly communicated
Ensure project risk and opportunity registers are in place and updated regularly in line with company processes
Identifying any skills gaps in the Business Unit and assist with a recruitment programme
Initiate and support the training of staff and managers to ensure that everyone is performing adequately in their role.
Providing a leadership support function to teams and motivating staff to achieve project goals.
In conjunction with the Project Managers ensure that staff are working efficiently and effectively.
To facilitate the formation of a project team suited to the delivery of the project.
To be a key influence in driving Mercury multidisciplinary and integrated approach within the BU.
Work with staff retention, staff progression and ensure personal reviews are in place and goals set
Promptly address any issues, conflicts, underperformance of staff within the BU – assist in addressing with HR Business Partner.
Responsible for the planning and use of all resources necessary for performing to agreed specification to suit budget and project schedule
Attend site, quality and Engineering reviews and handover meetings
Ensure design and procurement are completed in accordance with programme requirements in accordance with specifications.
Promote value engineering and off-site manufacturing to ensure quality, safety, commercial and programme targets are achieved
Ensure that packages and scope of works are reviewed prior to subcontracts being agreed.
Ensuring key performance indicators are in place and being reported on accurately.
Ensure that the management systems are implemented at all stages throughout the construction process, particularly with respect to Sub-contractor management.
Ensure Project Execution Plans are in place, accurate and updated as required
To promote Mercury key values in line with business objectives and drive the implementation of the Mercury Processes and procedures and ensure compliance from project teams.
Provide leadership, management, and development while ensuring financial and operational commitments are met and exceeded.

Essential Criteria For The Role

3rd level qualification, Engineering Degree or recognised trade qualification
10+ years’ experience of managing large construction projects as a General Contractor
Proven track record running multiple projects
Contracts Management experience on large scale projects would be an advantage.
Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legislative guideline
Negotiation skills in both internal and external settings.
Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
Ability to efficiently manage teams by setting expectations, delegation, and responsibilities.
Strong communication & computer skills,
Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
German speaking would be an advantage.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten Der Stelle

Die Gesamtleitung, Steuerung und das Management der Projekte sowie die Sicherstellung, dass die Programm-, kommerziellen, Sicherheits-, Qualitäts- und Umweltziele festgelegt und die Unternehmens-KPIs verfolgt und gesteuert werden.
Leitung mehrerer Projekte an Standorten in ganz Europa und über verschiedene Rechtsordnungen hinweg sowie regelmäßige Besuche von Baustellen
Kundenerwartungen managen und die Kundenbeziehungen pflegen – regelmäßige Kontakte pflegen, Probleme angehen, Geschäftsentwicklung etc.
Den Ausschreibungsprozess aus operativer Sicht steuern und wZusammenarbeit mit dem Managementteam und Vorkonsultation neuer Ausschreibungen für die Geschäftseinheit.
